The degree of hair system shedding varies in different situations. It is quite normal for a hair system shed mildly in the first few days after you receive it or when it has been a few months time of wearing. As we all know, the hair is either knotted or injected or v-looped onto the hair system base manually, so there inevitably are hairs that are not knotted correctly or firmly. So they will shed when you comb through the hair. But this will not be that much. On the other hand, when you wear the hair system for a pretty long time, like 6 months or a year, then the knots become loose, thus will have hair loss problem too.
However, if the shedding is severe all the time, after the first few weeks or when it is still new, then there is a problem and you need to find out what causes this to happen. Might it be a product quality issue, or it might is caused by a wrong maintenance routine.
Here are some practices that might cause the hair shed from your hair system. Do a self-checking to see whether you are doing one of these.
Soaking the Base in Conditioner for A Long Time Loosens Hair Knots
Condition the hairEvery time you clean the hair system, you might condition the hair after shampooing it but please remember applying the conditioner onto the hair instead of the base or knots because it will cause the knots become loose and will more likely to fall out. When the hair system shedding rate reaches 20%, then it is not wearable anymore.
Under-conditioning Causes Hair Tangling
hair tanglingOn the contrary, if you don’t condition the hair or don’t do it enough, the hair will become very dry and more likely to tangle and broken thus you will see hair shedding in this case too.
When the hair is already tangled and frizzy, please don’t use any random comb to comb the hair. The correct way is using a wide tooth comb or a comb that is specially made for hair systems and start from the ends and work your way up to the root or base.
Over-bleaching Makes the Hair Thinner and Fragile
Over bleachingFor hair systems with hair that is knotted onto the base, the base are bleached, harder in the front hairline but not that hard in the back to avoid hurting the knots because bleaching will turn the hair thinner and more fragile.
So when you try to bleach it again and found it doesn’t really work and do another round of bleaching, this will totally ruin the knots and cause the hair fall out.
So if you are so concerned about the knots, choose a style that doesn’t have knots or with knots not so visible.
Using Heat too Often will Dry the Hair
Heat styling like blow drying, curling or flat ironing on a regular basis causes the hair to dry out and break off. Also, blow drying the hair with a blow dryer while using a round brush can also pull hairs out.
